What the Tech?! Nymi

An ID band that opens doors to, well, everything.

Nymi
Nymin;
A new wearable device that uses your heartbeat to verify your identity. Nymi creates a password from your unique cardio signals, which are only a bit less secure than our unique fingerprints. It will enter the market as a remote to your accounts and gadgets that can be controlled only by you. But, that market (your wrist) is already pretty full — you’ve got smartwatches, exercise monitors, regular watches, bracelets, pony tail holders; why make room?

Rather than adding to the gadgets you have to monitor for texts, calls and alerts, Nymi is taking things away. The goal is to eliminate the password, and make this wearable the key to your wallet and devices. In the product video, you can see a man using his band to unlock his car, pay for coffee, turn on his computer, etc. This depends on other device creators and vendors to incorporate the Bluetooth technology into their products, but the result is a seamless way to control your devices. The bands are also very secure, not only for your information (it would be pretty difficult for someone to hack your things without your exact heartbeat), but also for you. The devices don’t track GPS, and you control completely which connected devices and apps you want to grant access to.

The devices will be available later this year for $99, but can be pre-ordered for $79. You can read more about the possibilities and demonstrations of Nymi here from The Next Web, and watch the product video to see more of what this gadget can do below.
