RSS Feed: Help Us Build It!

We’re running a crowdfunding campaign in hopes of funding four template pages to add to the Yapp platform. All four are pages you’ve asked for that we’re excited to see on Yapp. Each week of the campaign, we’ll be featuring one of the four pages, showing you how it works, what it can do, and why you should help fund it!

RSS Feed

We received a lot of requests for an RSS feed page by both people who are familiar with RSS and those who aren’t. RSS — which stands for “Rich Site Summary” but is often called “Really Simple Syndication” — pulls feeds from the web to create a personalized list of information like news headlines, podcasts, and blog posts (to name a few).

rss2RSS can be used for a ton of different things and by a ton of different types of Yappers. If you keep a blog that you want your users to be able to easily follow on the Yapp, you can generate an RSS link to plug in to Yapp that will show a list of your posts (like the image to the right). When a user clicks on the story they want to read, they’ll be taken to the web. Most popular blogging sites like — Blogger, WordPress and Tumblr — have simple ways to generate a feed from your content.

This new page option would also allow you to add audio feeds. Using a service like SoundCloud, you can generate an RSS feed from your account. This can include anything that’s hosted on their site — podcasts, songs, playlists, interviews, etc.

We want you to be able to showcase all of your work within your Yapp and to your Yapp community. To build the RSS feed page, we’re hoping to raise $3,500. If you’d like to see this page added to our platform, or need it in your Yapp ASAP, please contribute to fund it. If you give $80 or more, you’ll have access to the page in your account once it becomes available. You won’t be charged unless the campaign succeeds.
